Trailer wiring & brake systems

7-pin wiring, lights, electric brakes, breakaway systems, and controller calibration — safety-critical work before you tow.

Active corridor: Montana · Wyoming · Idaho · Washington — case-by-case beyond.

Wiring

Corroded connectors, damaged harnesses, failed breakaways, and miscalibrated brake controllers are common field finds. We test circuits properly and fix the fault — not just the most visible symptom.

Trailer wiring

What we repair

7-pin & 4-pin connectors

Corrosion, bent pins, broken wires at the body, bad grounds — the #1 failure point.

Lights & signals

Running, brake, turn — traced from connector to lamp.

Harness inspection

Road debris, moisture, UV, and chafe along the trailer length.

Adapters & tow-vehicle side

Permanent adapters/upgrades; tow-vehicle wiring with proper fusing and grounds.

Electric brakes

Stopping power that works

Controller calibration

Under-brake (trailer pushes) vs over-brake (lockup) — output verified.

Magnet testing & replacement

Wear, burnout, open/shorted windings that kill braking on one or more wheels.

Brake wiring & adjustment

Continuity/voltage/current at each magnet; shoe clearance adjusted as wear progresses.

Breakaway system

Battery-powered emergency actuation if the trailer separates — most owners never test it. We do.

Pre-trip / post-purchase trailer safety inspections cover connector, magnets, breakaway, lights, and adjustment so the rig is road-legal and road-safe.
