Gear We Recommend

Stuff worth buying and installing yourself -- picked for reliability and value, not just whatever ranks first. Where a job needs certified hands (sealed refrigerant, gas lines, inverter commissioning), we say so and point you to booking instead of a product link.

Disclosure: Some links on this page are Amazon Associates affiliate links -- if you buy through one, United Mobile RV earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link gear we'd actually put on our own rig; this never changes which brands we specify or install professionally (see our certified install brands for that).

Power

๐Ÿ”‹ Lithium (LiFePO4) Batteries

Any quality LiFePO4 with a real BMS is a straight upgrade over lead-acid for daily cycling and weight. For a DIY single-battery swap, a well-reviewed drop-in works fine -- for a full house-bank rebuild with real load calculations, that's a booking, not an Amazon order.

Renogy 12V 100Ah LiFePO4

Standard DIY drop-in replacement -- self-heating models available for cold-climate corridor use. Good value, easy to source.

Full house-bank rebuild?

Multi-battery banks, BMS-to-Victron integration, and real load-calculated sizing -- Epoch is our go-to here, professionally specified and installed, not a parts swap.

Battery monitor

A shunt-based monitor (not a voltage-only meter) is the only way to actually know your state of charge on lithium.

โ˜€๏ธ Solar Panels & Charge Controllers

Rigid panels are the most efficient and longest-lived; flexible panels save weight and skip roof penetrations but run hotter and shorter-lived. Size total wattage to your actual daily draw, not a round number.

Renogy 100W/200W Rigid Panel

The most common RV rooftop choice -- good value, easy to source matching panels later.

Flexible panel, no penetrations

For adhesive-mount setups where you want to avoid new roof holes -- expect a shorter service life than rigid.

MPPT charge controller

MPPT, not PWM -- meaningfully more harvest per panel. We install Victron SmartSolar on every professional build; it's also DIY-friendly for a self-install.

โšก Inverters

A modified sine wave inverter is fine for basic loads (lights, phone chargers); anything with a motor or sensitive electronics (CPAP, laptop chargers, microwaves) needs pure sine wave.

Portable pure sine wave inverter

For a simple plug-in setup off a single battery -- no wiring into the coach's DC system.

See on Amazon โ†’

Hardwired inverter/charger

Real integration with your house bank and shore/generator charging -- this is a commissioning job, not a plug-and-play part.

Exterior

๐Ÿ  Roof Coatings & Sealants

Roof leaks are the single most common cause of RV total-loss water damage. Reseal every fall/spring and after any new penetration (solar, Starlink, vents).

Dicor self-leveling lap sealant

The standard for any roof penetration -- vents, antennas, AC units. Keep a tube on hand.

See on Amazon โ†’

EPDM/TPO roof coating

Full-roof recoat for UV protection and small-crack sealing on an aging rubber roof.

Safety

๐Ÿšจ LP/CO Detectors

These have a real expiration date (usually 5-7 years) printed on the unit -- check yours, not just whether it beeps on test.

Safe-T-Alert dual LP/CO detector

The standard replacement unit for most factory mounts -- direct swap in most rigs.

A quick diagnostic check during any other visit -- ask us to look while we're already there.

Plumbing

๐Ÿšฝ Macerator Pumps & Composting Toilets

A macerator turns black tank waste into a slurry that pumps through a garden-hose-size line -- useful when you can't back up to a standard dump. A composting toilet eliminates the black tank question entirely, at the cost of more hands-on maintenance.

Flojet macerator pump

The most common aftermarket macerator -- lets you dump through a standard garden hose over distance or uphill.

Nature's Head composting toilet

The established name in RV composting toilets -- real install prep needed (venting, floor mounting), but no more black tank.

Appliances

๐ŸงŠ 12V Compressor Fridges

A 12V compressor fridge (not an absorption fridge) runs off battery/solar without needing to stay perfectly level -- the standard upgrade for off-grid builds.

Dometic CFX/CRX Series

Dometic-certified brand we install professionally -- several models already in our own shop with real reference pricing.

Portable 12V cooler/fridge

For a secondary cooler or smaller rigs without room for a built-in unit.
